Adriana Lima discovered her modeling talent by accident when she was approached, at age 13, by an agent in a mall in Brazil. Three years later, she captured the top prize in the Brazil Ford Supermodel Search 1996 but what really brought her international fame was her second-place ranking in the Ford Supermodel of the World Search. What followed was an exclusive contract with Elite Model Management and a string of glamorous modeling jobs that included poses for prominent international magazines like Elle, Vogue Italia, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, and many others. Adriana appeared briefly in the music video of "Yesterday is Gone" by Lenny Kravitz to whom she was previously engaged, a relationship that abruptly ended when the singer started playing sweet music with movie star Nicole Kidman. When not busy with modeling, Adriana spends her time doing charitable work for Caminhos da Luz (Way of Light), an orphanage based in Brazil.
